RAXDOME designed and manufactured a customized 12×25-meter capsule glass dome for cinema in Naobao Village in Inner Mongolia, China. This large glass structure will be used as an immersive dome cinema, providing visitors with a distinctive entertainment experience inside a modern architectural landmark.
A New Attraction for Naobao Village
Located in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, Naobao Village is a well-known cultural tourism destination and a popular location for visitors and social media content creators.
To introduce a new entertainment experience to the destination, the client selected a large capsule glass dome house as the building for its dome cinema. Compared with a conventional building, the curved capsule shape creates a more futuristic appearance and helps the cinema stand out within the tourism area.
With overall dimensions of approximately 12 meters wide and 25 meters long, the structure provides a spacious interior for the cinema system, projection equipment, seating and visitor circulation.
White Aluminum Frame and Golden-Bronze Glass
The capsule glass dome features a white powder-coated aluminum alloy framework covered with golden-bronze coated glass.
The white frame clearly defines the geometric structure of the building, while the warm bronze-gold glass gives the exterior a distinctive and premium appearance. During the day, the coated glass reflects the surrounding sky and landscape. When the interior lighting is switched on at night, the capsule becomes an eye-catching illuminated feature.
This exterior configuration is the same as the large capsule glass dome sample installed on the roof of the RAXDOME factory. The full-size factory sample allowed us to demonstrate the structure, materials and overall visual effect before applying the same design concept to this commercial project.
Customized White Interior Lining
A white interior lining was installed inside the glass structure to meet the functional and visual requirements of the dome cinema.
The lining creates a clean and integrated interior environment while separating the cinema space from the external glass shell. The client can arrange the projection system, audio equipment, seating and other interior facilities according to the final operation plan.
The combination of the capsule-shaped exterior and customized interior allows the building to function as both an entertainment venue and an architectural attraction.
More Than a Glass Building
This project demonstrates how a large capsule glass dome can be adapted beyond accommodation. Its wide-span interior, recognizable appearance and customizable configuration make it suitable for immersive cinemas, digital exhibitions, multimedia experience centers, tourist attractions and commercial entertainment venues.
For a popular tourism destination such as Naobao Village, the building itself becomes part of the visitor experience. Its unique shape and golden-bronze glass exterior also create a memorable setting for photography and social media sharing.
